You stay alive, baby. Do it for Van Gogh.

For a few weeks now I have spotted a bright red cardinal hopping around the outside of the house. Sometimes it's in the backyard. Sometimes its in the dead tree covered in vines and wasps.

Near the lamp by the front door there have always been bugs. Armies of bugs. Flitting about. June beetles, moths, lacewings, mayflies, crickets, and a walking stick. Well apparently this is now an ecosystem on the lamp.
A month or so back I noticed alot of baby spiders crawling about. Well they are full grown now and have overtaken the ceiling.

They are large and very sharp looking. And thin. I am near certain that they are tetragnatha extensa aka the long-jawed orb weaver aka prickly horrid beasts who like to land on my head.

They all seem to be living together. Their webs all criss cross and intermingle and they all hang out constantly wrapping up gnats and moths in their web. The stick bug is nimble enough to walk across their webs without getting caught. It too is feasting on the moths I believe. The spiders dont bother it. Probably because its alot longer than they are.

Either way, one day as I was observing the spiders and trying to find the best way to duck my head to avoid them I heard an angry PEEEEEEP. I turned and saw a brown bird flapping and spiraling near me. I turned around and noticed there was a nest in the alcove of the ceiling a small feathery lump with wings staring down at me.
A baby bird.

Well. Turns out the baby was the offspring of the bright red cardinal and its scraggly brown mate. Because yesterday as I came inside from work I noticed the baby was sitting on the ground as if it were expecting me. As I approached it flopped into the air like a rag doll, flapped a wee bit and landed on the window sill. The mother who saw me approaching quickly went SKRREEEEE SKKKKKRREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE and proceeded to flap all around my head and collide with: my head, the wall, the window, and the door. All in the space of a few seconds.

Isn't nature fascinating.

hey if you've read this far and havent clicked off your browser or fallen asleep than congrats you have the attention span of a totem pole. well done. if so by now you may have noticed music is a-playin on my blog again.
After mentally-detached's website went KAPOOF I've been toying with the thought of installing a new music player to play all sorts of stuff I like.

Its not perfect, but I am quite pleased. Its got a bit of everything. Explosions in the Sky, Estradasphere, Gorillaz, Aphex Twin, Lustmord, E.S.Posthumus, Taraf de Haïdouks, Juno Reactor, and a few other people I added in that I cant remember.

I'll probably change the music in it again later. Either way I am glad its back. I always liked the music being in this blog.

(and now the interesting part of the post)

This has been a busy week.
Alot of work has been done on polypeptide.

this film has reached the area where I am constantly afraid flash is going to have an error or the file is going to get corrupted or something else equally terrible is going to happen.
Adobe and Macromedia apparently have no idea at all how to build stable software, and once a flash file is corrupted, that's pretty much it. It's fucked for eternity. Goodbye months/years of work.
If something happens to this movie I dont know what I'd do. Probably off myself. :S

Something else I did this week!
My friend HotDiggedyDemon needed fanart of a series for his fanart section. No idea why considering he hasnt updated his site since 07.
Either way I was happy to oblige.

And then on top of all that I painted the Heat Miser from Year Without a Santa Clause.
For those unfamiliar, its one of the films by Arthur Rankin and Jules Bass who are the same people who gave us Frosty the Snowman, Rudolph, Jack Frost, Thundercats, Silverhawks, and the original Hobbit movie. They made a metric fuckton of various movies in stop motion and Year without a Santa Clause is probably one of their best.

The Heat Miser is one of Mother Nature's two sons. The other is the Snow Miser. They both have very catchy songs they sing upon their introduction to the film.

Either way, this is my heat miser painting.

The series finale of Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends came on today. It is a sad day. One wonders what thing Craig McCracken and Lauren Faust will make next.

Email yourself the flash files to back them up!!

Also, heat miser is a pretty serious guy.

Maybe have a copy of the file on a flash drive or something. (The first anonymous totally knows what's up)

I'm loving the new music player.
