The time has come for a great pilgrimage. A rather sad and pathetic pilgrimage but a pilgrimage nonetheless.
My old place has been put for sale and so I am moving. To a land not far away. And a land a bit....better overall.
I am moving in with my father and my brother. He's had spare rooms for a while which haven't done anything except house his record collection. So I will be setting up shop in one of them.
Things I've moved so far: my portfolio, various art, all of my books about how to use Maya, Aftereffects, and some of my college junk. My comic books and art books and such.
What I still need to pack: my clothes, my mattress, my dresser, and various electronic gadgets. and my rather large movie collection. Various knick knacks.
And the birds.
Alot of bullshit I have to worry about for the next few days.
But it's been a busy week overall anyway.
For one thing my employer Weebl finally had his baby. And so the site is currently being updated with odd remixes and remakes of his old cartoons done by other artists.
Including a remix of crabs by my friend Lazymuffin.
And my own retelling of weebls cartoon Scampi, but done in my own way. (it loops, like most of weebls toons are supposed to).
On top of all that I also had to sling together a new episode of his weebl and bob series in about a night.
But it gets crazier! Nickelodeon has started their NICKTOONS FILM FESTIVAL again! Which meant 2 things:
1.) I need to get my cable box fixed so I can get the nicktoons network again. Apparently BrightHouse Networks havent perfected the art of "hit button; run command" so my box is currently busted.
2.) I entered a film into it. Created in particular. A cartoon I keep going back to and fiddling with and then going back and fiddling with it some more.
And then, on top of all of this, I have been working on Polypeptide again.
I'm going to finish the great bastard of a film if it kills me.
As usual, pictures:
Speaking of pictures, as I was clearing out all my various garbage I came across something very very interesting. Several old dusty CD's. And lo and behold what was on the CD's but incredibly old art and cartoons ranging from somewhere between 1999 and 2002 or so.
The swf files were particularly funny. I think I'm going to put them all together and make them into a video showing "HOW TO MAKE FLASH" badly. With commentary of course.
As for the art, it was a mixed bag of "wow i did this when i was like 16 and couldn't draw worth shit" and "holy god christ almighty what is this abomination that lashes its forked tongue upon mine virgin retinas"
I put most of the art into a folder so that all may view its terrible terrible hilarity.
Behold. Terrible art from nearly a decade ago.
My most recent fleedle leedle whazzam was that as I was strolling down the aisles of Wal-Mart I came across something quite peculiar and incredible.
We're Back: A Dinosaur's Story has been put on DVD. Its incredibly bare bones (PLAY, SET UP, LANGUAGES) but the fact Universal remembered they made this movie at all amazes me. Other than a few die-hard cartoon fans it seems most of the world has forgotten this wonderfully twisted dark and freaky animated joyride ever existed. But I guess thats the price one pays when one comes out the same year as Jurassic Park.
I recall I think this was one of the first times in a cartoon when I recognized that something had been colored digitally as opposed to hand-inked.
An excellent film still to this day. Its really an amazing story. A scientist from the future travels to the past to hyper-evolve dinosaurs until they are civilized intelligent beings, then takes them to the present to fulfill people's wish of seeing ancient creatures. However the dinos and their friends are soon under contract to work in a paranormal demon circus where the ringmaster, a crazy man with a screw for an eye, makes money off of scaring people.
One of the things that gave me a good nostalgic jab in the gut was seeing the old AMBLIMATION logo at the beginning with Fievel Mouskewitz leaning on it. Ah, back when Steven Spieldberg funded crazy animation all the time. And Don Bluth stuff.
next saturday I am going to Ybor to see VNV Nation perform.
Give them a fish, they eat for a day.
