you are the flower in glittering gold

I have been working on polypeptide again. Or at least I was. Then I was contacted by my boss, Weebl.

Last week I completed Chips & Peas for weebl which I am quite proud of.
This week was a return to form with a new weebl and bob episode.

This episode called for a Boris Vallejo-esque painting of weebl and bob. Originally it was a vector but I was unsatisfied so in about an hour or so I made a quick painting that was alot better. Not perfect by any means or even anatomically very accurate but not bad for something done in an hour I suppose.
It was rather refreshing seeing as I hadn't painted anything in months.

I've been playing a fantastic game for the last week or so called KRATER which is basically a combination of Diablo1/2, Fallout1/2, and Dungeon Siege.
I have adored it thus far. It has the prettiest graphics I've seen in a locked birds-eye camera in some time.
I have a Bruiser, Regulator, and Medicus.
Bruiser is my tank and draws aggro. Medicus focuses on medium-range laser combat and healing my Bruiser and sometimes the Regulator. Regulator is long range with a sniper rifle, stun grenades I have customized to heal any friendlies in its radius, and various other grenades I have assigned to him.
Heres a picture of my team scuttled around one of the main villains, Bloodclot.
And here they are in a random underground system.
The whole game revolves around a post-apocalyptic Sweden where people dig massive tunnel systems underground to get old technology and resources. Some of it is sanctioned by the government. Some of it is illegal. Theres plenty of mutants as well.

Team Fortress 2 had an update. We finally got Meet the Pyro. It is hilarious but rather short. The update also came with great new weapons for everyone but the Pyro. He got a new flaregun which flings people through the air. It is hilarious to use but cant kill anyone who isnt either already hurt or VERY distracted. The ability to fling snipers off cliffs however is incredible.

Killing Floor finally had its big summer update.

And they made the IJC weapons mod official. They tweaked some of the weapons however. It's pretty fucking great although the M99 .50 calibur sniper rifle reloads too fast and makes even the hardest modes of the game a bit too easy if everyone goes sharpshooter.
But that's always been a problem.
Support and Sharpshooter are just too good at everything including clearing out little trash zeds which are supposed to be the commando/firebug's jobs.

But the commando got the FN_FAL. The right hand of the free world. It's fantastic. Slightly faster than the SCAR and with much less recoil. And I can still carry a 2nd assault rifle around with it for spam emergencies. Usually the L85 Carbine (why they call it a Bullpup I will never understand. Bullpup is a design not a gun species). Although if my team is good I'll use the M4 instead just because of the speed.

In more videogame news because I have nothing better to talk about, the former developers of the STALKER: SHADOW OF CHERNOBYL series, who reformed under a new company called Vostok Games, have finally released screenshots of their next game.

Since the announcement of this game the devs have been claiming as hard as they can it's going to feel like S.T.A.L.K.E.R. but as a multiplayer online game. I'll be honest I have little faith they can pull it off.

The entire atmosphere of STALKER comes from the isolation and how alone you feel. The only game that managed to do this unironically was the DAYZ mod for Arma II. And that has devolved into an eternal deathmatch where players just immediately fire on each other on sight, steal ammo and beans off the dead body, and disappear into the darkness.

This is not how STALKER is played since you are very fragile and you have to really pick and choose your battles. How they will get this to work in an mmo is going to be interesting. They arent the first dev studio who have tried this. And unless by some minute chance they pull it off, they wont be the last either.

Regardless, all i can do is remain cautiously optimistic.
My spirits were lifted however with the news that the devs have released screenshots.

And here they are. I am glad to see all these environments look exactly like something out of Shadow of Chernobyl or Call of Pripyat. I will cling to hope like a fetal panda baby clings to it's mother's nipple.

I have been waiting and watching for the completion of Polypeptide longer than most can say they have waited or watched for anything in their entire lives.

Don't stop now.
